With a 17-year high in unemployment in the UK, people are wondering more than ever where and how new jobs will be created. There are a few things the government needs to do to make that happen.

That will also mean supporting growth of the UK's medium-sized businesses. According to the report 'Future Champions - unlocking growth in the UK's medium-sized businesses' by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) there is a high growth potential for medium-sized businesses in the UK. Mid-sized businesses already make a vital contribution to the country's economic well-being, but they could grow much more, create many new jobs and thus support the economic recovery in the long run.

So that's one of many long-term plans. We know what you really want right now is jobs. So as usual at this time of the month, we present 10 companies that are definitely hiring right now and all month long.

Hertz
Hertz is the world's largest vehicle renting organisation and operates from approximately 8100 locations in 147 countries worldwide. Today, Hertz's Worldwide Reservations Centers handle approximately 40 million phone calls and deliver approximately 30 million reservations annually.
Available positions: Hertz offers exciting career opportunities for starters, but also for experienced managers. Hertz is recruiting Customer Service Representatives all throughout Europe.

Whitbread
Whitbread is the power behind some of the UK's most successful, much-loved hospitality brands: Premier Inn, Costa Coffee, Beefeater Grill, Brewers Fayre, Table Table and Taybarns.
