The latest unemployment figures show a weakened jobs market. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) there are now officially more than 2.5 million unemployed in the UK, which is the largest increase in almost two years.

Hundreds of thousands of jobs needed in Britain
A new report by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) underlines the fact that 1.5 to 2 million jobs will need to be created to return the employment rate to its pre-recession level of 73%. Since public sector employment is cut by the government, hundreds of thousands of jobs will have to be created in the private sector over the next five years. A boom in internet businesses could open these desperately needed jobs. According to the Daily Mail, Philipp Schindler, vice-president of Google Europe, predicted that despite the economic downturn 365,000 jobs could be created by 2015 as more online firms emerge and grow.

While it's a long way for the UK back to full employment, it's not all doom and gloom right now. Companies are still hiring, you just need to know where. Here are ten companies from different industries who need new people right now.

Tragus Restaurant Group
